Fatih Altaylı gives a harsh response to Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı's 'He has cancer' claim: 'For years, under FETÖ's orders...'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı reacted sharply to the claim made by pro-government figure Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, who stated, "I learned that Fatih Altaylı has cancer. He is preparing to enter politics in the new term." Altaylı, who said, "If I had cancer, I would seek treatment, why would I enter politics?" announced that his mother was hospitalized due to high blood pressure following Kütahyalı's claim. Altaylı stated, "Who would be held accountable if something happened to the poor woman? Can there be such dishonesty, such irresponsibility! You have been dealing with me for years under FETÖ's orders, fine, but this is too much now. You have crossed the line," he said.
Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, known for his proximity to the government, claimed on his program on Ensonhaber that journalist Fatih Altaylı has cancer.
Kütahyalı stated, "Let's drop a bombshell. I learned that Fatih Altaylı has cancer, get well soon. As far as I have learned, he is preparing to enter politics in the new term. Don't be surprised if you see the era of journalist Altaylı end and the era of politician Altaylı begin. Will he be elected? He might. The segment I come from, the secular-lifestyle Sunni Turkish masses, have started to worship Fatih Altaylı," he said.
In his column today, Fatih Altaylı responded sharply to Kütahyalı's claims without naming him.
Fatih Altaylı reacted harshly to Kütahyalı's claims in an article published on his own website.
"If I had cancer, I would seek treatment, why would I enter politics? Am I a maniac! If I had cancer, I would say I have cancer. I don't. I am not entering politics either, everyone should rest assured, I don't have cancer, let no one be sad and no one be happy!" said Altaylı, adding the following:
"Besides, even if I did, is it up to someone else to announce it?
I have an 84-year-old mother and an 85-year-old mother-in-law living in a coastal town in Balıkesir.
My daughter lives in Germany.
Without thinking about what would happen to them if they heard such a thing, you just throw out a lie.
I think, at least I should call my mother and tell her it's a lie so she doesn't panic, but it's also possible for her to think, 'What if it's true and he's hiding it?'
In the evening, I call because my wife said 'Call,' but I was too late.
A gossiping neighbor gave the news, saying 'Fatih has cancer, get well soon,' and my mother is in the hospital with high blood pressure.
I spoke with her assistant, who said, 'She's fine, she's fine, don't worry.'
That's fine, but who would be held accountable if something happened to the poor woman?
Thank God my daughter knows who is who, so she didn't believe it.
But can there be such dishonesty, such irresponsibility!
You have been dealing with me for years under FETÖ's orders, fine, but this is too much now.
You have crossed the line.
Shoo."
