Fatih Altaylı hosts independent candidate for Sarıyer, Şükrü Genç

Altaylı had previously criticized Şükrü Genç, who resigned and became an independent candidate after not being nominated in Sarıyer, with harsh words on his YouTube channel program recently.

Altaylı had stated, "Şükrü Genç served as mayor for 3 terms. He is a gentleman, a man respected by everyone. In the fourth term, they say, 'You shouldn't do it.'

The moment he isn't allowed to run, he goes against the CHP and becomes an independent candidate. What is that? It's trying to make sure the CHP doesn't get elected. If I saw Şükrü Genç somewhere, I wouldn't shake his hand or look at his face," he had said. About 2 weeks after this broadcast, Altaylı hosted Şükrü Genç on his program.

"I HAD CRITICIZED HIM HARSHLY"

Fatih Altaylı explained why he hosted Şükrü Genç as follows. Here are Altaylı's words;

"He served as mayor in Sarıyer for 3 terms. He had a very successful mayoral tenure and was loved by the public. He was a very valuable name in the CHP, whom everyone, especially in local politics, called 'elder brother.' However, he was not nominated in these elections. When he wasn't nominated, he was extremely angry and became an independent candidate.

I also criticized him harshly, even beyond harshly, in previous programs.

He called me and said, 'Wait a minute, you might be right or you might be wrong, but you should listen to me.'

I said, 'Mayor, what am I going to listen to? What you've done is obvious,' and he said, 'Let me explain anyway.' I personally appreciate the services he has provided, especially to the Sarıyer area."
