Fatih Altaylı reacts to DEM Party's Tuncer Bakırhan: 'These are Kandil statements'

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, in a statement made following the news of martyrs over the past two days, used the expressions: "As long as the Kurdish issue and the isolation imposed on Öcalan continue, neither the people of Tekirdağ nor the people of Trabzon will find peace."

Journalist Fatih Altaylı was among those who reacted to these words, which sparked public outcry.

"THESE ARE KANDIL STATEMENTS"

Evaluating the agenda on his own YouTube channel, Altaylı stated: "These are Kandil statements. Any politician with a sound mind, a conscience, and a shred of humanity—regardless of their party, political ideology, race, or religion—any decent human being, in quotes, would not say such a thing. What does it mean, 'not in Trabzon,' 'not in Tekirdağ'? What does that mean?"

"THESE ARE DISGRACEFUL"

Altaylı continued: "If you say that, how is what you are saying any different from what others say? These are disgraceful, disgraceful, but in Turkey, all of this is being done specifically. I mean, pay attention, in Turkey, many such separate fault lines are being created; while one might think they are disappearing, they are all being cracked open and recreated one by one. Look, I am telling you, the future of this country is seriously troubled. Seriously troubled... These are all creating very large cracks, very large fault lines, and if an earthquake is triggered on any of these fault lines, this country will be leveled. Governments and politicians have a duty to mend these cracks. Anyone who does not mend them is a traitor. Anyone who tries to further divide these cracks is a double traitor. The only thing needed right now is glue."

"THOSE HAPPIEST ABOUT DEMIRTAŞ BEING IN PRISON ARE THE ONES IN KANDIL"

Altaylı added: "Whether it is the DEM Party, this party, or that party, it makes no difference, but of course, there is a clique within the DEM Party that is already this. Let me tell you something; let someone from the DEM Party come out and tell me: 'We prepared our deputy lists ourselves, they did not come to us from Kandil.' Let someone come out and say this to me, if they can... 'We prepared all the lists ourselves, these lists were not given to us by Kandil,' let someone come out and say it, for God's sake. Look, let me say something even more assertive; do you know who is the happiest that Selahattin Demirtaş is in prison today? The ones in Kandil. Be sure that it is so; others are happy too, of course, but the happiest are those in Kandil."
