Journalist Fatih Altaylı criticized the People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Murat Kurum.
The relevant section from Altaylı's column is as follows:
COMPARED HIM TO KILIÇDAROĞLU
"Forgive me, but Murat Kurum has no flavor or taste, and I cannot say he has any color, or scent. When you look at him, there is no attitude that you see, that stays in your mind, or that gives you a message of identity. Neither good nor bad…
With this demeanor, do you know who I compare Murat Kurum to as a politician? Don't get me wrong, but to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. He, too, especially in the early period of his political life, had a colorless, odorless, and indifferent demeanor. He was unresponsive; he would show fake reactions, but he couldn't quite pull them off. I suppose when people stay in the bureaucracy for a long time, they become a bit like this. Of course, there was still a very important difference between them. Kılıçdaroğlu was a bureaucrat of the old Turkey, while Murat Kurum is one of the new Turkey.
"THE AKP CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ERGÜN TURAN"
One's loyalty was to the state, while the other's is to a person. Returning to Ergün Turan, who it is understood sent the invitation to İmamoğlu. I have always said from the beginning that the AKP candidate should have been Ergün Turan. You understand the reason now. He was the only person the AKP had who was similar to Kadir Topbaş. I wish he had been the candidate."
