Fatih Erbakan: The priority issue is not constitutional change, but the economy
Erbakan stated, "Currently, Turkey's priority issue is not constitutional change. Our real issue is the economy. It is the citizens' struggle to make a living and inflation. In fact, there is currently no need for a constitutional change to solve these."
Speaking in Kayseri, where he was visiting for various events, New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) Chairman Fatih Erbakan stated that Turkey's priority issue is the economy.
Speaking at a breakfast program at a private restaurant, Erbakan used the following expressions:
In the current system, even if the Parliament does not approve, the President has the opportunity to implement the budget he determines himself. Along with these, regarding the separation of powers, the President can directly or indirectly determine the absolute majority of the number of members in places like the HSK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors), the Constitutional Court, and the Court of Cassation. It is a matter of these places being brought under control by the will of a single person. It is possible that this could be regulated and this influence being under the domination of a single person could be improved and eliminated. At such a point, we would provide our support. Besides all of this, our real issue is the economy. It is the citizens' struggle to make a living and inflation. In fact, there is currently no need for a constitutional change to solve these.
Touching upon the issue of stray animals, Erbakan said, "Our Prophet says, 'He who does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.' Yes, let there not be a single stray dog on the streets. We already stated this as a project. Let us collect them all. Let us neuter them. Let us not end their lives. Because the foundation of our faith is compassion for all creatures. As the New Welfare Party, we do not accept such a merciless approach. Of course, these animals must be collected. They must be removed from human living spaces. But they must continue to live there under the supervision of veterinarians in the best conditions. We cannot bring ourselves to harm these souls and we cannot kill them. It is said, 'Sir, it is a very high cost' to keep them alive. Let a director of ours who receives a salary of 1 million 400 thousand liras in the public sector receive a salary of one million. Let our bureaucrat who receives a salary of 800 thousand liras receive a salary of 300 thousand liras, and let us find a resource for these animals. Instead of issuing tax exemptions 128 times for privileged holdings, let us issue them 28 times and find a resource for these animals from here. We are paying trillions in interest. While we are transferring trillions to such waste, such interest, and privileged holdings, do we not have enough money to keep these animals alive?" he said.
