Fatih Portakal names potential AKP candidates for Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir! 'Reluctant, but orders must be obeyed'
There is great anticipation regarding which names the AKP will nominate for Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir in the local elections. Journalist Fatih Portakal has made predictions for the AKP's candidates in these cities.
Turkey will head to the polls for local elections on March 31, 2024. With only days left until the critical election, political parties have accelerated their efforts.
While the doors to alliances have completely closed on the opposition front, the AKP aims to regain the metropolitan municipalities it lost in 2019, particularly Istanbul and Ankara.
CHP NOMINATED IMAMOGLU AND YAVAS
The CHP has nominated incumbent mayors Ekrem Imamoglu and Mansur Yavas as candidates for Istanbul and Ankara in the March 31, 2024, local elections. It is being awaited with curiosity which names the AKP will nominate against Imamoglu and Yavas.
ERDOGAN POINTED TO SUNDAY
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated in his remarks yesterday (January 4), "You will hear the Istanbul candidate on Sunday. We will announce the Ankara candidate and our election manifesto in Ankara. We will announce almost half of the candidates on Sunday."
"RELUCTANT, BUT ORDERS MUST BE OBEYED"
Sozcu TV Main News Bulletin anchor Fatih Portakal made predictions for the AKP's Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir candidates during a live broadcast.
Stating that "The AK Party's candidates have now become clear," Portakal said, "The AK Party's Istanbul candidate is Ali Yerlikaya. 90 percent. Mr. Ali does not want it, he is reluctant. However, orders must be obeyed."
Portakal continued his words as follows;
"In Ankara, Turgut Altinok seems certain. Former Minister of Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoglu will be nominated from Izmir. He was a member of parliament from Izmir in the previous term. However, if the CHP's candidate is Tunc Soyer, they will field a different candidate."
