Fatih Portakal's reaction to Mehmet Şimşek regarding the minimum wage

The purchasing power of the Turkish Lira has fallen due to high inflation and the cost of living. 

While millions of workers are demanding an additional raise to the minimum wage, the AKP government has closed the doors to an interim hike.

Journalist Fatih Portakal reacted to Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek on the Sözcü TV Main News Bulletin.

"HOW WILL THEY ENDURE FOR 8 MONTHS?"

Addressing Minister Şimşek, Portakal asked, "How will a person working for minimum wage endure for 8 months?" Using the phrase "Don't you dare tell me to be patient," Portakal also invited Şimşek to his program.

Portakal's words were as follows;

"Can you make ends meet? For example, the minimum wage... The minimum wage is 17 thousand 2 lira. How will these people endure for 8 months with this money? It is impossible for them to endure. How will a person who actually receives the minimum wage get by for June, July, August, September, October, November, December, and January, for exactly 8 months?

"DON'T TELL ME TO BE PATIENT"

I am asking you this, Mr. Mehmet. Do you have a miracle formula for these people? Don't tell me to be patient. You always say patience, but don't say it anymore. Because these people have long since crossed that threshold called patience. If you have another miracle formula, tell us.
