Femicide in Mersin! Suspect fled by taxi

24-year-old İrem Sağlam, who was shot by her boyfriend at her home following an argument, lost her life at the scene. While the young woman's body, who was killed in front of her mother, was taken to the hospital for an autopsy, efforts to apprehend the suspect, who fled by taxi, are ongoing.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the morning hours in the Kiremithane neighborhood of Mersin's central Akdeniz district. It is alleged that Mehmet T. A. (27), who arrived at İrem Sağlam's (24) home early in the morning, began arguing with her for an unknown reason.

FLED BY TAXI

Following the argument, Mehmet T. A. fired a single shot at İrem Sağlam's head with a handgun he had brought with him. While Sağlam's family, who were in the house with her mother and siblings, reported the situation to the police and 112 emergency services, the suspect fired several more shots into the air and fled the scene by taxi.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Upon notification, medical teams arrived at the address and determined that Sağlam had lost her life. The Murder Bureau teams of the Mersin Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, who launched an operation to capture the fleeing suspect, began reviewing security cameras in the surrounding area.

While Sağlam's body was taken to the Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital for an autopsy, the investigation into the incident continues.
