Fenerbahçe had reminded Selvi of 'FETÖ': He left it unanswered and targeted the CHP

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously told Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi last year, "Abdülkadir Bey, you will do what is necessary in your column. Ahmet Bey (Hakan) is doing what is necessary." 

Most recently, Fenerbahçe issued a very harsh statement after Selvi targeted the club's president, Ali Koç, in his column.

While Selvi's past article from his time at Yeni Şafak, in which he told the FETÖ ringleader to "come back," was brought up, Selvi remained silent. 

In his column today, Selvi did not address the issue, instead characterizing the scandalous Sharia-related images at Anıtkabir as an operation as the election approaches.

Selvi also targeted the CHP through Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. 

"İMAMOĞLU HAS SEIZED CONTROL OF THE CHP ADMINISTRATION"

Selvi stated the following in the relevant section of his column:

"Ekrem İmamoğlu has no successful performance to show in Istanbul. The CHP has no brilliant municipal record to present to the citizens in the local elections. Ekrem İmamoğlu and Özgür Özel are at odds with each other. They cannot determine their mayoral candidates. Ekrem İmamoğlu has seized control of the CHP administration. What will they do in this situation? To cover up their failures, they want to steer the local elections toward a polarization based on the regime. They want to conduct their local election strategies not on performance, but on secular sensitivities such as Atatürkism, Sharia, and the caliphate.

Turkey has fallen into such traps in the past. We have paid heavy prices. We must not fall into the same traps again."
