Fenerbahçe issues statement regarding meetings with Bahçeli and Özel: 'As it has been alleged...'
A statement has been released by the club following visits by Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and Board Member Erol Bilecik to CHP leader Özgür Özel, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.
Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and Board Member Erol Bilecik had visited CHP leader Özgür Özel and subsequently MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli following the eventful Göztepe match.
During the visit to Bahçeli, a 17-25 December clock appeared, which became a new agenda item in politics.
Koç and Bilecik then visited Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.
While the repercussions of these visits continue in politics, a statement regarding the visits in question has come from the Fenerbahçe side. In the statement, it was noted that "a necessity has arisen to make a statement due to malicious allegations," and the following expressions were included:
'THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THE VISITS...'
A necessity has arisen to make a statement regarding the imaginary and malicious allegations brought to the agenda concerning the visits our President Ali Y. Koç and our Board of Directors carried out in Ankara on Monday, August 19.
The sole purpose of these courtesy visits is to introduce our new Board of Directors to the leaders of political parties, who are our important social stakeholders.
There is no political agenda or purpose whatsoever, as has been alleged or otherwise.
'UNREAL ALLEGATIONS'
Our club, Fenerbahçe, the world's largest sports club, has always remained outside of politics and has taken great care to stand at an equal distance to all parties.
As a club, our principle is to serve Turkish sports and to represent our country in the best way possible in the international arena. Including Fenerbahçe's name in political assessments is a great impertinence.
Our request from the public is that the aforementioned baseless and unreal allegations are not taken into consideration.
