Ferdi Tayfur admitted to intensive care

Ferdi Tayfur, one of the legendary names of Turkish arabesque music, was taken to the hospital after falling ill at his home in the Marmaris district of Muğla.

Tayfur, who was receiving treatment for a common cold, was transferred to the Medical Park Hospital in Antalya—where he previously underwent a kidney transplant—at the request of his doctor.

Tayfur, who arrived in Antalya by air ambulance at 23:00, was admitted to the intensive care unit. The artist's health status is being closely monitored.

WHO IS FERDİ TAYFUR?

Ferdi Tayfur's real name is Ferdi Tayfur Turanbayburt. He was born on November 15, 1945, in Adana. He is a Turkish singer, composer, songwriter, and film actor.

He has won the Golden Record Award 9 times. He has appeared in motion pictures and became famous for the songs he wrote himself. Having produced over 30 albums and more than 30 films, he founded his own record company, Ferdifon Plakçılık, in 1982.

HIS LIFE

Ferdi Tayfur signed a two-record deal with Seda Plak in 1968, but it did not receive the expected attention. Subsequently, he returned to Adana and took over the work on the farm, while continuing his musical studies; three years later, his record titled "Huzurum Kalmadı" was released. In 1973, he made his breakthrough with the 45-rpm record "Kır Çiçekleri" for Görsev Plak. He also made a name for himself with the 45-rpm record "Bana Gerçekleri Söyle" in 1974. In 1975, he transferred to Elenor Plak. He first made a name for himself with the song "Bırak Şu Gurbeti," followed by "Çeşme."

MUSIC CAREER

During the years he advanced his music career by composing, Tayfur married his wife Zeliha in a modest ceremony in 1974. His first record sold well, but due to financial difficulties, two songs he composed were sold to Gülden Karaböcek through the initiative of Elenor Plak owner Atilla Alpsakarya. Following this, the artist, whose records were released one after another, achieved his real breakthrough with the song "Çeşme," and in 1976, his first feature film of the same name, in which he starred alongside Necla Nazır, was released. The film was watched by 12 million people.

His 1992 album "Prangalar," with 5 million copies sold, is one of the best-selling albums in Turkey and is Ferdi Tayfur's best-selling album.

In addition to cassettes, he also gave concerts. In 1993, he set a record with 200,000 people attending his concert at Gülhane Park.

PRIVATE LIFE

The artist has a son named Timur. Later, he had two daughters (Tuğba and Funda) with his first and only legally wedded wife, Zeliha.

He has a daughter (Tuğçe Tayfur), who is also a singer, from his relationship with film actress Necla Nazır, with whom he lived for approximately 30 years and separated from in 2007. The artist also has a child named Ferdi Taha from Habibe Ümyani Demir, with whom he had a relationship while he was with Necla Nazır.

In 2010, the artist began living with his first wife, Zeliha Turanbayburt, to whom he was still legally married after many years. He has been living in Marmaris for a long time.
