FETÖ operation in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul

In an operation conducted across 6 provinces centered in Istanbul, 25 suspects were apprehended on charges of being members of the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ). It was determined that the suspects, who were involved in the organization's current structure, were recruiting members through student houses, maintaining organizational loyalty through house 'big brothers/sisters,' and continuing the 'catalog marriage' system to increase internal loyalty and ensure secrecy.

FETÖ operation in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul

An investigation was launched to apprehend suspects for whom detention warrants had been issued as part of various FETÖ investigations conducted by the Terror and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Acting within the scope of the ongoing investigation, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch carried out simultaneous operations in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul, apprehending 25 FETÖ members.

It was determined that within the organization's current structure, members were being recruited through student houses and organizational loyalty was being maintained through house 'big brothers/sisters.' Furthermore, it was established that individuals actively involved in the women's structure were continuing their activities, and that the 'catalog marriage' (izdivaç) system was being maintained to increase internal loyalty and ensure secrecy.

Following the investigations, simultaneous operations were carried out this morning in a total of 6 provinces, including Istanbul, Aksaray, Antalya, Çanakkale, Bursa, and Samsun. During the raids, 25 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.

Searches conducted at the suspects' addresses resulted in the seizure of numerous digital materials, organizational documents, and banned publications, as well as cash and gold with a total value of 1 million 140 thousand TL.
