FETÖ operation in 10 provinces: 17 doctors apprehended

An operation targeting FETÖ was carried out in 10 provinces, centered in Istanbul. Within the scope of the operation, 17 active-duty doctors were apprehended. 

Acting within the framework of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Branch carried out a new operation against FETÖ.

The operation was launched early this morning to apprehend 17 active-duty doctors identified as having links to FETÖ and engaging in organizational activities, following investigations into so-called "study dormitories" linked to the organization for the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS).

17 DOCTORS APPREHENDED

In the simultaneous operations conducted in 10 provinces centered in Istanbul, all 17 suspects for whom arrest warrants had been issued were apprehended and taken into custody.

During searches conducted at the homes of the physicians linked to the organization, a large number of digital materials and organizational documents were seized. The FETÖ-member doctors taken into custody were brought to the police station for questioning.

The investigation into the suspects is ongoing.
