Fire at perfume manufacturing facility in Başakşehir: 1 firefighter injured, one cat rescued

A fire that broke out around 22:30 at a 2-story perfume production facility operating in the Eskoop Industrial Site in Başakşehir, İkitelli, caused panic. According to allegations, the flames, which originated from the electrical wiring, grew rapidly and spread to another adjacent business and the parking garage on the lower floor.

Upon notification, numerous fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the area. While police took security measures in the vicinity, fire crews began efforts to bring the fire under control. During the intervention, explosion sounds were heard from time to time, and water tanker support was provided from surrounding districts.

While there was no loss of life in the incident, a firefighter who was injured in the leg during the intervention was taken to the hospital after initial treatment by medical teams. A cat trapped in the facility was rescued by fire crews.

“THE GROUND SHOOK, WE THOUGHT IT WAS AN EARTHQUAKE”

Fatih Kiper, who explained that he was in the area during the incident, said, “We were working in our friend's shop. First, there was an explosion sound. The ground shook. We thought it was an earthquake. After that, when we went outside and looked, people were running away shouting, ‘There is a fire.’ We immediately threw ourselves outside. When we went back to look, a fire had broken out in our friend's shop. We got people out of there and went back outside. We heard that a cologne shop had burned down. It spread to the shop next door. We barely saved ourselves. We heard two or three explosions. When we went outside, smoke was coming out of the parking garage. I don't have any information about the current situation. I believe they have extinguished it.”

The fire continued throughout the night and was completely extinguished in its 8th hour. Extensive damage occurred in the perfume manufacturing business where the fire started, as well as in the other shops and the parking garage to which the fire spread.
