78 of our citizens lost their lives in the fire that occurred at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu. It was revealed after the fire that the hotel did not address the deficiencies identified during inspections, finding them "too costly." Following the fire at the hotel, which did not comply with fire regulations, debates regarding the compliance of other hotels with these regulations have also emerged. In the latest statement, it was announced that all public and private sector buildings in Istanbul will be inspected for compliance with fire regulations.

NEGLIGENCE HAD BEEN REVEALED DURING INSPECTION

Documents showing that the Bolu Municipality Fire Department had conducted a fire adequacy inspection at the Grand Kartal Hotel last month and identified negligence had surfaced.

The Bolu Municipality Fire Department delivered a document to the company on December 16, stating that the hotel was not in compliance with regulations regarding many measures, and did not issue a fire safety compliance report to the hotel.

HOTEL WITHDREW THE APPLICATION

Following this, the hotel management requested the cancellation of the application on December 24. With a document dated December 25 signed by Deputy Mayor of Bolu Sedat Gülener, the application was canceled upon the request of the Grand Kartal Hotel.
