First fruit of the opening: Ministry has printed Kurdish textbooks

While the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) continues its work as part of the new opening process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, involving the DEM Party and terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan—it has emerged that the Ministry of National Education has printed Kurdish textbooks and that Kurdish lessons have begun. In a post on his social media account, a teacher named Serhat Deli stated, "The Kurdish bell, which has not rung since 2012, rang for the first time in Istanbul. I had the honor of being the teacher for this beautiful project. We held our first lesson with the Kurdish textbooks sent by our Ministry of National Education."

First fruit of the opening: Ministry has printed Kurdish textbooks

Following the new opening process conducted by the government with the DEM Party, Kurdish language instruction has returned to the agenda. In this context, Serhat Deli, a teacher working in Istanbul's Esenyurt district, shared the first Kurdish lesson held in the classroom on his social media account.

In the shared video, the classroom environment, the voices and participation of the students are notable, and Kurdish phrases can be seen written on the whiteboard. Teacher Serhat Deli added the following note to his post:

“A series of preparations before the TRT 6 broadcast. We practiced pronunciation while having fun. The Kurdish bell, which has not rung since 2012, rang for the first time in Istanbul. I had the honor of being the teacher for this beautiful project. We held our first lesson with the Kurdish textbooks sent by our Ministry of National Education. May Esenyurt be the capital of the thousand-year-old national unity and brotherhood project.”

This implementation, carried out with Kurdish textbooks sent by the Ministry of National Education, is considered to be one of the first reflections of the new opening process on the ground.
