First hearing in the Narin Güran murder trial

First hearing in the Narin Güran murder trial

The murder trial of Narin Güran, who was reported missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found 19 days later in the Eğertutmaz Stream, begins today at 09:00.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 12 out of 23 suspects taken into custody were arrested, including her uncle Salim, mother Yüksel, brother Enes Güran, and their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar.

The indictment prepared against these 4 defendants, seeking aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," was accepted by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on October 23.

The indictment stated: "While all investigation procedures were carried out under the file numbered 2024/46201 of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, considering that the crime attributed to suspects Salim Güran, Nevzat Bahtiyar, Enes Güran, and Yüksel Güran falls under the jurisdiction of the high criminal court due to its nature and character, and that investigation procedures regarding some suspects in the main investigation file are still ongoing, a decision to separate the files has been made regarding the suspects in our file to prevent any delay in the proceedings."

The 4 detained defendants are appearing before the judge today (November 7).

In the preliminary report prepared by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court, a "compulsory appearance" order was issued for the father, Arif Güran, to attend the first hearing tomorrow as a "complainant," and for 21 other individuals, including detained suspects, to attend as "witnesses."

The Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Diyarbakır Bar Association were also invited to the hearing as "complainant institutions."

Police barriers have been placed in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse as part of security measures.
