Mustafa Çiftçi, who was appointed as Minister of Interior by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, shared his first message on social media immediately after taking office. While stating that he was honored to have been entrusted with his new role, Çiftçi thanked the previous Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, for his contributions.

In his statement, Çiftçi said, “I have begun my duties as Minister of Interior with the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With the prayers of our nation and the strength of our organization, we will work with all our might for the peace and security of our country. I sincerely thank our Minister, Mr. Ali Yerlikaya, for his efforts.”

 

WHO IS MUSTAFA ÇİFTÇİ?

Born in 1970 in the Çumra district of Konya, Mustafa Çiftçi completed his primary and secondary education in the same district and his high school education in Konya. Graduating from the Department of Public Administration at Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences in 1995, Çiftçi officially began his professional career a year later after passing the Ministry of Interior's District Governor Candidate exam.

Having served as a district governor in various districts, Çiftçi supported his professional development with an 8-month period spent in England. After graduating from the National Security Academy in 1999, Çiftçi held various administrative positions, including Department Head at the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Personnel, and Chief of Staff and Chief Advisor to the President at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Completing his master's degree in public administration at Selçuk University's Institute of Social Sciences in 2007, Çiftçi subsequently graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Ankara University in 2011. Appointed as the Governor of Çorum in 2018, Çiftçi served there for approximately five years.

HE HAD COMMEMORATED İSKİLİPLİ ATIF

On February 4, 2021, while serving as the Governor of Çorum, Mustafa Çiftçi attended a commemoration ceremony for İskilipli Atıf, who supported reactionary uprisings with the backing of the British during the National Struggle period.

The Çorum Governor's Office shared the commemoration in the İskilip district on social media with the words, 'İskilipli Mehmet Atıf Hoca was commemorated with prayers at his graveside on the 95th anniversary of his martyrdom.' Following the reactions to his participation in the commemoration, Çiftçi described Atıf as a 'man of knowledge, action, and cause.'
