First statement from AKP on Özgür Özel's remarks about the ballot box and the street: 'The peak of political ignorance'

In his statement, spokesperson Çelik said, "What Özel said with a disrespectful tone has become the peak of political ignorance. Our President has achieved all of his political victories through the ballot box."

In a statement made via his social media account, Çelik said the following:

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel saying that our President is afraid of the ballot box with a disrespectful tone has become the peak of political ignorance. 

The ignorance represented by Özgür Özel has now become a political identity in terms of the way of conducting opposition. 

All of our President's political victories have been achieved through the ballot box. The political tradition to which Özgür Özel belongs, however, has made aggression toward the ballot box its brand in our multi-party life. In our President's political life, the "ballot box" is his most valuable companion. The political tradition that Özgür Özel is part of, on the other hand, has historically treated the ballot box as an adversary.  

Özgür Özel's words, which threaten the legitimate democratic space, are null and void. 

Democratic processes in Turkey do not operate with the logic of CHP's party congresses. The greatest favor Özgür Özel could do for himself is to understand that the logic of CHP's party congresses and democracy are not the same thing.
