First statement from Ayşe Ateş after the trial begins: The roots of the murder are deeper than we thought

The trial of 22 suspects regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President and Hacettepe University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş has begun.

The first hearing regarding the murder is being held at the Sincan Penal Execution Institutions Campus courtroom.

At the beginning of the hearing, MHP lawyers requested to join the case as a party.

The prosecutor stated that the MHP was not harmed by the crime and requested that the request to join be rejected.

Özgür Özel sat in the courtroom alongside Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Ayşe Ateş shared a new statement on her social media account regarding the trial process.

Ateş used the following expressions in her post:

The conspiracy theater, which has been put forward for days by MHP Central Executive Committee members, Ülkü Ocakları administrators, hired pens, and troll accounts, and which does not match the evidence in the file, and which was displayed in total today in the courtroom by the detainees with statements that overlap one-to-one with these claims... It is understood that the roots of this political murder are deeper than we thought. We knew they wanted to muddy the clear water, gain time, and harvest victimhood. But we do not yet fully know what they are trying to hide, or whom they are struggling to protect. Therefore, our only wish is that no barrier be placed in front of the judiciary, that the investigation conducted against 17 people be deepened and completed as soon as possible, and that this political murder reach whoever and wherever it extends. We are in Sincan. We believe that we will learn all the facts as a result of a fair trial, and we are waiting for justice to be served. We also state once again that we have no tolerance for another day spent in injustice.
