First statement from Bilgi University following closure crisis: 'Education will continue without interruption'

An official statement has been released by the administration of Bilgi University, which was closed overnight by the signature of President Erdoğan and resumed operations again by his decision following a major backlash from students. The university announced that educational activities will continue without interruption.

Bilgi University, which is going through a historic period in its 30th year of establishment, published an information text regarding its institutional and academic operations following the cancellation of the decision to revoke its operating license. The statement emphasized that all units are working non-stop to ensure that students do not suffer any grievances.

"Our Trustee Board has resumed its duties"

In the text written by the university administration, it was stated that the management mechanism has been reactivated following the process, and the following expressions were included:

"With the decision taken in line with the discretion of our President, our primary priority as a university has been to protect the educational rights of our students, to secure the rights and working order of our academic and administrative staff, and to observe the expectations of our families and the high public interest; it has been decided that our university will continue its activities with its current structure. In this direction, our Trustee Board has resumed its duties."

Exam schedule remains unchanged: Finals in June

Clarifying the issue of the academic calendar, which students and families were most curious about, the rectorate announced that classes and exams will be conducted as planned. In the statement, it was said, "The 2025-2026 Academic Year Spring Semester final exams will be held between June 8-20, 2026, as previously announced," and it was stated that scientific research and club activities will not be disrupted.

"We will continue scientific production more strongly in our 30th year"

The statement, which reported that a comprehensive process evaluation meeting was held with the participation of the board of trustees and the university's senior academic and administrative staff, concluded with the following message of institutional determination:

"Our University, which is completing its 30th year this year on its educational journey that began with the motto 'Learn not for school, but for life'; will continue to carry out its education, research, and scientific production activities more strongly with its institutional accumulation. We hope that our students, our academic and administrative staff, and our families will focus on the future with peace of mind; and we thank them for the trust, common sense, and institutional belonging they have shown during this process."
