First statement from Burcu Köksal's husband Yasin Köksal following AKP transfer: 700 million investigation

Journalist İsmail Saymaz had previously stated that there were rumors that a detention warrant had been issued on February 19 for three people, including Yasin Köksal, as part of a 700 million lira bribery and corruption investigation, but that this decision was later abandoned.

It had been claimed in the public sphere that Köksal joined the AKP due to the corruption allegations against her husband. In a live broadcast on Sözcü TV, Özel had stated before Köksal's resignation, "I told her, 'We will stand behind you to the end. If necessary, divorce your husband, but do not do this to your party or yourself. If there is any wrongdoing or theft, the party will stand behind you.'"

'She said, "I am not going anywhere." But this time the situation looks a bit different. I could not reach her either,' he had said.

"Speaking of transfers, in my column yesterday, I mentioned that I would speak with Yasin Köksal, the husband of former CHP member and Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who joined the AK Party after constantly criticizing it.

The night before last, Yasin Bey sent a message saying, 'Fatih Brother, I am Yasin Köksal, can we talk?'

At first, I wondered who Yasin Köksal was. Then I remembered. I replied, 'I am in a crowded and noisy place. I will call you later.'

Since it was late at night, I could only call him yesterday.

He wanted to talk to provide information.

'Brother, I am also a journalist. There is Kanal 03 in Afyon, maybe you have heard of it. I was its manager,' he began.

In his youth, he decided to become a journalist by watching me and Mehmet Ali Birand.

'Brother, the information that I am Burcu Hanım's advisor is not true. It is also not true that my relationship with Burcu Hanım started while we were both married. This was reflected in the media this way, and you quoted it from there, but I called you because I know your sensitivity regarding the truth. Burcu Hanım separated from her husband in 2011. I divorced in 2013. We married Burcu Hanım in 2015. When we met, we had both separated from our spouses. As for consultancy, it was never a matter of discussion. I never worked as an advisor to Burcu Hanım in the TBMM or anywhere else for even a single day. I was never on such a staff,' he said.

I also asked him about the investigation allegation against him. 'It was written in various places that a 700 million TL corruption investigation was launched against you, but that this investigation was shelved after your wife said she would join the AK Party. İsmail Saymaz also brought this to the agenda. What was this investigation about?' I asked.

'Brother, there has never been such an investigation of 700 million TL against me or us. I have no knowledge of such an investigation,' he said.

I do not know whether such an investigation exists or not.

But I do know this. The Republic of Turkey is a serious state, no matter what. If such an investigation has been opened and a number has been assigned to it, that investigation will appear before us one day, somewhere. Since the Ottoman Empire, documents in the state are not lost or destroyed.

Therefore, such an investigation will not remain secret forever.

Unless, of course, documents can now be destroyed.
