First statement from Murat Ongun after his arrest: 'I was arrested based on slanders without a single piece of evidence!'

Murat Ongun, Chairman of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Medya A.Ş. and advisor to Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been arrested.

The first comment from Ongun regarding his arrest has arrived.

Ongun stated, "I was arrested based on slanders without a single piece of evidence!"

In a post shared on his social media account, Ongun said the following:

"I was arrested based on slanders without a single piece of evidence! A prosecutor requested my arrest based on the statements of a secret witness who began their testimony by saying 'as far as I have learned,' and the judge approved it. With this investigation, I also learned that creating more revenue for the public is considered corruption! It is clear that unless we change this judicial and political network, peace will not come to our country. We will achieve this with our nation. Even if we are in prison, we will accomplish this."

Murat Ongun's assets had been seized after he was taken into custody. In his statement, Ongun had said that all the allegations were untrue and lies.
