Four suspects detained in the investigation into the murder of Can Polat, the close bodyguard of Dilan Polat, who was killed in an armed attack in İzmir, have been referred to the courthouse. Footage of the police operation in which the suspects were detained has emerged.
Can Polat, the close bodyguard of social media influencer Dilan Polat and cousin of her husband Engin Polat, was killed in an armed attack on Wednesday, June 3, in Alaçatı, a holiday region near the Çeşme district of İzmir. Upon the discovery of an Istanbul connection to the investigation, the case was transferred from the Çeşme Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In joint efforts conducted by the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Division and Intelligence Branch, two suspects who carried out the murder and conducted reconnaissance were detained in İzmir along with the automatic pistol used in the act.
In ongoing operations carried out in Istanbul, two more suspects who acted in coordination with the gunman and provided the weapon were also apprehended in connection with the incident. The 4 suspects detained regarding the event were referred to the courthouse after the completion of their procedures.
