On January 21, 78 people lost their lives in a fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya. While Turkey mourned the lives lost for days, a new development has occurred regarding the incident.

WIFE AND 2 DAUGHTERS DETAINED

According to the report by Emrullah Erdinç, the wife of the hotel owner Halit Ergül, E.M.E., and his two daughters, E.A. and C.H., were detained in Istanbul and taken to the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

PROVINCIAL SPECIAL ADMINISTRATION LICENSING MANAGER ALSO DETAINED

Yeliz Erdoğan, the Licensing and Inspection Manager of the Bolu Provincial Special Administration, was also detained yesterday in connection with the fire at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Resort that claimed 78 lives. Following the completion of the expert report as part of the investigation conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel on January 21, a detention warrant was issued for Erdoğan. The proceedings for Erdoğan, who was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams, are ongoing.

19 PEOPLE IN PRISON REGARDING THE FIRE

78 of our citizens lost their lives in the fire that broke out due to security weaknesses and lack of inspections at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, where the nightly rate is higher than the minimum wage. Following the fire tragedy in which 78 people lost their lives, 19 people, including Bolu Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener, Fire Department Chief Kenan Çoban, and fire department personnel İrfan Acar, were arrested and sent to prison.
