In Zonguldak, an attack was carried out by an unidentified person or persons on the flower held by the 'Girl Giving Flowers to Atatürk' statue. While it is not yet known who or whom the attack was carried out by, citizens expressed their reaction to the situation.

Citizens stated that the statue had been attacked several times before and reported that precautions should be taken.

Zonguldak Municipality teams stated that they were aware of the situation and that repairs would be carried out shortly.

When Mustafa Kemal Atatürk arrived in the city by ship on August 26, 1931, and stepped ashore from the pier at the harbor, 5-year-old Ayten Alper greeted him with flowers, saying, "Welcome, my Gazi father." In 2016, a bronze statue symbolizing that moment was created. The 1 meter 20 centimeter tall statue was placed on Liman Street.
