Forest fire prevention measures announced in Istanbul
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced the forest fire prevention measures taken in Istanbul in a post on his social media account.
Gül announced that all landowners are now required to plow the boundaries of their fields to a width of at least 10 meters and must complete this process by August 2.
In his social media post, Gül stated:
"It has been observed that fires occurring due to stubble remaining in fields after harvest spread to surrounding lands and especially to forested areas, causing significant losses.
In this context, in order to prevent forest fires, it has been made mandatory by the decision of the Istanbul Governor's Office for all landowners to plow the boundaries of their fields to a width of at least 10 meters and to complete this process no later than August 2, 2025."
