Former IYI Party Chair Akşener's name enters Sinan Ateş investigation

Ömer Zengin, who gave a statement in the investigation into the murder of Sinan Ateş, claimed that Ülkü Ocakları Chair Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım joined the Ülkü Ocakları administration at the request of Meral Akşener.

According to Can Bursalı from Sözcü, Ömer Zengin, a close friend of Sinan Ateş, alleged in his testimony to the prosecutor as a witness that the current Ülkü Ocakları Chair, Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, was appointed to the Ülkü Ocakları Istanbul Provincial Administration at Akşener's request.

"SHE HAD NOT YET LEFT THE MHP"

Zengin, who also claimed that Yıldırım transitioned to the Ülkü Ocakları from religious community dormitories, stated, "I became certain that the assassination was organized by Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, İzzet Ulvi Yönter, Olcay Kılavuz, and Nevzat Ünlütürk."

During the period pointed to by Zengin, who lives in Germany and came to Turkey to testify upon the prosecutor's summons, Meral Akşener had not yet left the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). At the time Yıldırım was an Istanbul Provincial Administrator for the Ülkü Ocakları, Akşener was serving as the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Yıldırım, who first joined the Istanbul Provincial Administration as the Provincial Vice Chair responsible for Social Activities, was later appointed as the Istanbul Provincial Chair by former Ülkü Ocakları Chair Olcay Kılavuz.

In his statement, Zengin said that during the period when Olcay Kılavuz was removed from office and replaced by Sinan Ateş, Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım's name was also mentioned as a candidate for general chair.
