Former police chief caught on suspicion of paving stone theft

In an incident that occurred in the Yeniköy neighborhood of Muğla's Menteşe district, security forces launched an intensive investigation after two pallets of interlocking paving stones, left to be used in road work, went missing. Security camera footage from areas near the scene was meticulously examined, and technical surveillance was conducted.

As a result of the findings, the two suspects were identified and apprehended in a short time. It was revealed that one of the detained individuals was U.Ç., who had been dismissed from the profession due to links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and had previously held significant positions in Muğla, including at the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch and as a district police chief.

The suspects were referred to the courthouse following their statements at the police station. The suspects, who were brought before the duty magistrate judge, were released under judicial control provisions.

The incident drew attention as the former police official's name was mentioned in connection with allegations of theft.
