Foul odor from apartment reveals death of man living alone in Eskişehir
A report regarding a strong odor emanating from an apartment in Eskişehir has revealed that a 65-year-old man had passed away days earlier. The body, which was found in a bloated and decomposing state, was removed through a window with the assistance of fire department crews. The exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
Residents of a three-story apartment building on Ayaztepe Street in the Bahçelievler neighborhood of Eskişehir noticed an unpleasant odor in the evening hours. Unable to locate the source of the smell, the residents immediately notified police teams. Upon arriving at the scene and opening the door to apartment number 13, the teams found 65-year-old Altay Yurtseven, who was known to live alone, lying motionless on the floor.
Initial examinations by medical teams and the municipal physician determined that Yurtseven had passed away more than 10 days ago. Due to the fact that the body was bloated and had begun to decompose, it was determined that the remains could not be transported through normal means. Consequently, fire department crews removed the apartment window to extract Yurtseven's lifeless body. The body was then taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
Apartment residents stated that Altay Yurtseven had been living alone for a long time and did not communicate much with those around him. It was learned that Yurtseven was divorced and a father of two. While the investigation into the incident continues, the exact cause of death will be determined following the autopsy.
