Frightening 'major earthquake' warning from Ahmet Ercan! He gave a date...

While earthquakes occurring in the Marmara region have brought the potential Istanbul earthquake back to the agenda, a series of earthquakes in Hakkari on the final day of 2023 raised a different concern.

Following the earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.4, 3.5, and 4.5 on December 31, Geophysics Engineer Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan made significant assessments regarding the region.

Speaking to Mynet, Ercan drew attention to the pressure the African continent is exerting on Anatolia and stated that he expects a major earthquake before spring.

"TENSION IS INCREASING EVERYWHERE"

Stating "Tension is increasing everywhere," Ercan said, "I believe we will see an earthquake before spring arrives. Unfortunately, the outlook is somewhat like this. It shows that tension is increasing, especially in Anatolia."

Ercan also made notable remarks regarding Istanbul.

"IT IS CHILLING TO HAVE BACK-TO-BACK EARTHQUAKES ABOVE 4"

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan's statements are as follows:

"The outlook is that Anatolia is very tense. And this tension is increasing everywhere. There is a somewhat unusual situation. Actually, magnitude 4 earthquakes are not major earthquakes, but having back-to-back earthquakes above 4 in various parts of the country is chilling.

During the 2011 Van earthquake, I stated that the tension had shifted towards Hatay, and this continuation of the Bitlis suture zone is heading towards Hakkari. The fault here has been silent for a long time. There is a seismic gap here. A seismic gap means places where earthquakes will occur in the future. Now, the fact that there have been back-to-back earthquakes in Hakkari has truly made me think."

"IF IT BREAKS, AN EARTHQUAKE AROUND 7 IS EXPECTED"

"In this region, the thickness of the Earth's crust is approximately 43 km, and it is currently resisting breaking. However, if enough tension has accumulated here to break the crust, an earthquake around 7 is expected. It is not possible to give a timing here, but this is a region prone to breaking."

"IT IS SAYING 'I AM COMING'"

"Of course, it would be wrong to expect a major earthquake after every magnitude 4 earthquake. However, in geophysical terms, it is telling us: I am coming!"

HE GAVE A DATE

"One way or another, I believe we will see an earthquake before spring arrives. But I do not know where that will be right now. Unfortunately, the outlook is somewhat like this. It shows that tension is increasing, especially in Anatolia.

The main source of this is the increase in the speed of the African continent pushing and 'ramming' into Anatolia from the south. These thrusts will affect the breaking resistance and will create an earthquake."

IS THERE A RISK IN ISTANBUL?

"In my opinion, there is no such possibility in Istanbul. I have said before that I do not agree at all with the earthquake expectations of some names regarding 2023. I do not think such a risk exists."
