Frost and drought alarm in agriculture! Erdoğan listed the damaged products one by one

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with heads of chambers of agriculture at a program held at the Presidential Palace on the occasion of May 14 World Farmers' Day. Speaking at the program, Erdoğan said, "I am very pleased to be with you on the occasion of May 14 World Farmers' Day. I congratulate all our farmers on World Farmers' Day through you. I wish this meaningful day to be auspicious for our farmers, our nation, and our country."

"WE WILL EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTIES WITH CERTAIN PRODUCTS"

Stating that the weather conditions experienced last month caused damage to some agricultural products, Erdoğan said, "It is understood that we will experience difficulties this year, especially in certain product groups. Our findings so far show that damage has occurred to varying degrees in some fruit groups such as apricots, grapes, apples, peaches, and nectarines."

Emphasizing that there is no threat to food security, Erdoğan noted the following:

"Regarding strategic products, thank God there is no danger in terms of our food supply security. Our Ministry of Agriculture has been closely following the process since the first day, and we regularly receive the necessary information from our minister. In this process, we have once again seen the importance of agricultural insurance and the Farmer Registration System. Unfortunately, we are still far from the desired level regarding TARSİM, where up to 70 percent of the premium cost is paid by our state. I trust your support in encouraging our farmers to register and take out insurance."

"WE WILL CONDUCT OUR JOINT WORK AND PROVIDE ALL KINDS OF SUPPORT"

President Erdoğan stated that the opening of the 4th Agriculture and Forestry Council would be held today and said, "We will touch upon many issues concerning our farmers there." Saying, "You, as the Union of Turkish Chambers of Agriculture, are the closest witnesses that we have never left our farmers alone for 23 years," Erdoğan continued his words as follows:

"I hope we will continue to stand by our farmers and producers at all times from now on. I thank you for your exceptional contributions to the development, strengthening, and progress of our agricultural sector. Through you, I would like to express our gratitude to all farmers in our country. May the Almighty make our companionship, solidarity, and affection eternal. Hopefully, we will carry out our joint work with our ministry against this frost, drought, and so on, and by providing all kinds of support we can, we will overcome this ordeal quickly and, hopefully, with the least amount of loss. For this, let both Mr. İbrahim and Mr. Hakkı carry out these works quickly, make the right decisions, and deliver them to all our citizens."

The heads of chambers of agriculture who attended the program took the floor and voiced the problems in their regions.
