Funeral of teacher who shielded her students delivered to her family

In an armed attack on a middle school in Kahramanmaraş, a total of 9 people, including 1 teacher and 8 students, lost their lives. It was determined that the attack was carried out by 14-year-old İsa Aras Mersinli, an 8th-grade student at the school.

The identities of those who lost their lives were announced as teacher Ayla Kara (56) and students Mustafa Aslan, Şuranur Sevgi Kazıcı, Zeynep Kılınç, Furkan Sancak Balal (11), Bayram Nabi Şişik (10), Belinay Nur Poyraz (10), Adnan Göktürk Yeşil (11), and Kerem Erdem Güngör.

In the attack, Z.Ç, S.B, Y.T.G, O.T.B, Z.S.T, A.A, and A.G were seriously injured, while M.B.E, I.E.K, G.G, F.İ.Ç, C.E.K, Z.D.A.K, S.Ş.Ç., M.A, and M.B were injured. It was reported that M.N.T was discharged after the completion of their treatment.

According to information that emerged regarding the incident, it was determined that 56-year-old teacher Ayla Kara was in the hallway during the attack, ran into the classroom after hearing gunshots, and shielded her students by covering them with her own body to protect them. It was learned that Kara was struck by bullets during this act.

The body of the late Ayla Kara was delivered to her family following procedures at the hospital.

It was reported that some of her relatives fainted during the delivery of the body, and the remains were placed into the hearse amidst tears.
