Galatasaray files criminal complaint against Jose Mourinho and issues 'racism' statement
Galatasaray Sports Club has issued a statement following the Fenerbahçe derby, announcing that a criminal complaint will be filed with the prosecutor's office regarding Jose Mourinho's remarks.
Galatasaray Sports Club has released a statement regarding the comments made by Fenerbahçe Manager Jose Mourinho during the press conference held after the derby.
The statement issued by the yellow-red club's official social media account included the following remarks:
"Fenerbahçe Manager Jose Mourinho, who has regularly made derogatory remarks about the Turkish people since he began working in Turkey, has today added inhumane rhetoric to his unethical statements.
We hereby announce that we will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding Jose Mourinho due to these racist remarks, and that we will also lodge a complaint with UEFA and FIFA. In addition to all these initiatives, we will be monitoring the stance that our 'paragon of morality' rival's managers will take regarding this rhetoric."
WHAT DID JOSE MOURINHO SAY AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE?
Regarding the performance of young player Yusuf Akçiçek, who started in the 11 for the derby, the Portuguese manager said, "I have to thank him for his performance. If he had played poorly today, you would have killed me. I know very well how these things work. He saved me today, I trust him. He is not perfect, but I cannot compare him to Varane. I had played him in the Champions League when he was this age.
I must also thank the referee today. In the position you mentioned, everyone on the opposing bench was jumping around the player like monkeys. Great character. If it had been a Turkish referee, he would have given a yellow card in the 1st minute and I would have had to substitute him in the 5th minute. I know Montella (National Team Manager) is happy. Montella has a lot of players at his disposal, but he is also pleased with Yusuf's performance. At the same time, the goalkeeper is not bad either. He has the self-confidence to catch with one hand on the cross. Therefore, he is also coming along. He is not a young player. It is a great age for a goalkeeper. He is doing a good job," he concluded.
