99-page scandal report emerges: DEM, which demands 'political rights' for Öcalan, targets Lausanne

As part of the second opening process, which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli architected and the government calls the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, the alliance partner DEM Party has prepared a new report.

In the 99-page report by the DEM Party, which frequently demands the "right to hope" for PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, it was requested that legal and political rights be granted to Öcalan.

The report was not limited to requests for the leader of the PKK terrorist organization. In the report, which targets the Treaty of Lausanne—the title deed of the Republic of Turkey—it was stated that "with Lausanne, the wind began to blow in the opposite direction."

According to the report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, some of the highlights in the 99-page report prepared by the DEM Party are as follows:

THE LAUSANNE WIND

"With the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, the wind began to blow in the opposite direction, so to speak. The relatively democratic or opposition tendencies that were the founding political subjects immediately before and after the establishment of the Republic began to retreat and lose ground with the interventions of nation-state tendencies starting in 1923.

POLITICAL RIGHTS FOR ÖCALAN

The recognition of Öcalan's legal and political rights will also constitute an important threshold for the recognition of the rights of the Kurdish people within a holistic legal framework. Öcalan's physical freedom must be ensured, and the principle of the 'right to hope' must be applied.

NO ARMORED VEHICLES PATROLLING

Patrol practices carried out with armored vehicles in cities where Kurds live densely must be ended immediately.

KURDISH TRAFFIC SIGNS

Public services should be provided in multiple languages in regions where Kurds live densely. In particular, traffic signs related to pedestrian rights within cities should be able to be made in Kurdish. Kurdish expressions in Parliament should be recorded as Kurdish instead of 'unknown language'."
