A new district is coming to Istanbul: Which neighborhoods will be merged?

Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, is preparing to add a new district to its existing 39. It has been suggested that a new district named "Levent" will be established by merging neighborhoods from the Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Kağıthane, and Eyüpsultan districts.

According to a report by Sarıyer Gazetesi, it is planned that approximately 20 neighborhoods will be connected to the new district. It is stated that the borders of Levent District have not yet been finalized. According to the plan, the neighborhoods to be taken from the Sarıyer district are as follows:

Emirgan, Rumeli Hisarı, Reşitpaşa, Baltalimanı, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Maslak (including Atatürk Oto Sanayi), Huzur, and Ayazağa.

Additionally, it has been suggested that Katar Street on İstinye Bayırı will be located within the borders of Levent.

NEIGHBORHOODS FROM BEŞİKTAŞ AND KAĞITHANE WILL BE ADDED

The neighborhoods of Beşiktaş district that are close to the Sarıyer border:

Konaklar, Akatlar, Etiler, and Levent neighborhoods are among those that will be connected to the new district.

From the Kağıthane district:

Seyrantepe, Yeşilce, and Hamidiye (a portion) will be included in Levent.

From Eyüpsultan, Kemerburgaz and 5. Levent neighborhoods

In the Eyüpsultan district as well:

It is planned that the Kemerburgaz and 5. Levent neighborhoods will be connected to Levent District. The status of the Göktürk neighborhood has not yet been clarified.

Although no official statement has been made yet, the process is expected to move forward rapidly once the borders of Levent District are finalized. The new district aims to contribute to Istanbul's urban planning and the balancing of population density.
