Ferdi Tayfur, the legendary name of Turkish arabesque music, has passed away at the age of 79 in a hospital in Antalya where he was receiving treatment. The news of the famous artist's death has plunged the art world into mourning.

Ferdi Tayfur, who left his fans in mourning with the news of his passing, has become a topic of discussion due to statements he made in an interview years ago. The unforgettable name of Turkish music had said the following regarding his will:

"Whether I am alive or after I die, I will sing so that everyone can listen to my songs without having to pay. Because my children or heirs did not make those songs. I made those songs, and I made them so that the public could hear them and people could benefit from them."

DETAILS REGARDING THE FUNERAL CEREMONY ANNOUNCED

Following the announcement of Tayfur's death, his fans gathered in front of the hospital in Antalya to pray for the famous artist. Numerous figures from the worlds of politics and art supported Tayfur's family and loved ones with messages of condolence. It was announced that Ferdi Tayfur's funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 4, at the Atatürk Cultural Center. Following the ceremony, Tayfur will be laid to rest.

WHO IS FERDİ TAYFUR?

Ferdi Tayfur was born on November 15, 1945. After signing a two-record deal with Seda Plak in 1968, Ferdi Tayfur returned to Adana and took charge of the work on the farm.

Meanwhile, while continuing his musical work, his record titled "Huzurum Kalmadı" (I Have No Peace) was released after a 3-year hiatus.

Ferdi Tayfur made his breakthrough in 1973 with the 45-rpm record titled "Kır Çiçekleri" (Wildflowers) for Görsev Plak. He also made a name for himself in 1974 with the 45-rpm record "Bana Gerçekleri Söyle" (Tell Me the Truth). Transferring to Elenor Plak in 1975, the artist first made a name for himself with the song "Bırak Şu Gurbeti" (Leave That Exile), followed by "Çeşme" (The Fountain).

During the years he advanced his music career by composing, Tayfur married Zeliha Hanım in a modest ceremony in 1974. His first record sold well, but due to financial difficulties, two songs composed by the artist were sold to Gülden Karaböcek through the initiative of Atilla Alpsakarya, the owner of Elenor Plak. Thus, the artist, whose records were released one after another, achieved his real breakthrough with the song "Çeşme". In 1976, Tayfur's first feature film, in which he starred alongside Necla Nazır, was released under the same name. The film was watched by 12 million people.

According to Kral Müzik, his 1992 album 'Prangalar' (Shackles) is known as Ferdi Tayfur's best-selling album, as well as being one of the best-selling albums in Turkey with a figure of 5 million.
