Erdem stated, "There are methods we call fraudulent insurance. That is, you are shown as insured at a place without actually working, or it is made to look like you are being shown as insured and having premiums paid at a fake workplace."

NOTICES ARE BEING SENT

There are those who show themselves as insured to obtain the right to retirement despite not working at any job.

And there are even those who appear insured through shell companies and retire. The Social Security Institution has taken to the field to detect this fraud and has launched a meticulous study for retrospective investigation. Notices are being sent to the addresses of those identified as having obtained fraudulent insurance.

Erdem said, "If some notices are being sent to retirees—which sometimes also go to employees—you have retired years later, you have received a lot of pension, this notice arrives; if the insurance you obtained is fraudulent, all the retirement pensions given are clawed back from you with interest."

So, how will you know if you are being investigated by the Social Security Institution? If you go to your SGK service record on E-Devlet and see the letters 'S', 'Ş', or 'K' in the section next to the insurance branch labeled 4A, 4B, and 4C, it means you are being investigated by the Social Security Institution.

"IF YOU SEE THAT LETTER ON YOUR SERVICE RECORD, IT MEANS THE GAME IS OVER"

Faruk Erdem said, "First, 'K' means controlled. It means your workplace or your insurance is being checked. 'Ş' stands for suspicious; if you see the letter 'Ş' on your service record, your insurance has become suspicious. These two letters are not very dangerous." But if you see the letter 'S' on your service record, then it is only a matter of time before you end up owing money to the SGK. Erdem stated, "If you see the letter 'S' on your service record, it means the game is over; your insurance or workplace has been classified as fake. The paid premiums are being deleted. If you have retired, all the pensions paid are also being clawed back from you with interest." The process for fraudulent insurance can go as far as a criminal complaint to the Prosecutor's Office for both employees and employers. Erdem said, "They ask you, where is this workplace? You have never been there, you don't know. You don't know how many people work at the workplace, but if you can answer all these questions, it means there is no problem for the citizen. Then there is a problem with the workplace, and an investigation and action are being taken regarding the workplace."
