After the IMM team, will İmamoğlu also be moved from Silivri? Two possibilities are being highlighted

Following the arrest of several individuals working at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), another notable development has occurred. It has emerged that many of the detained IMM personnel have been transferred to different prisons. This development has brought the question, "Is it now Ekrem İmamoğlu's turn?" to the public agenda.

Journalist Emin Çölaşan detailed the issue in his column in Sözcü. According to Çölaşan, the distribution of IMM employees to different prisons could be part of a planned strategy, and a similar process might be intended for İmamoğlu.

TWO POSSIBILITIES ON THE TABLE

In his article, Çölaşan states that two different scenarios could come to the fore in the event of a potential arrest of İmamoğlu. The first is that he remains in the current prison to reduce public reaction. However, this possibility might be preferred to prevent the process from escalating.

The second and stronger possibility is that İmamoğlu could be transferred to a prison far from Istanbul. According to this scenario, by sending him to a prison outside of Istanbul, the aim could be to both reduce visits and limit his impact on public opinion. This situation could significantly disrupt İmamoğlu's political communication.

PRISON DECISION LIES WITH THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

The authority regarding which prisoner will stay in which prison belongs to the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry can determine prison locations for all convicts and detainees. Although these decisions are generally not disclosed to the public, the practices are entirely based on a legal framework.
