Alarming statement after 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Bursa! 'It serves as a warning'

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred today at 13:43, with its epicenter in the Nilüfer district of Bursa. The earthquake was felt in Bursa, as well as in Istanbul and surrounding provinces. The tremor did not cause any loss of life or property, but it caused brief panic among residents in the region.

"AN EARTHQUAKE THAT SERVES AS A WARNING"

Appearing on a live broadcast on NTV, Prof. Dr. Okan Tüysüz made significant statements following the earthquake. Reminding that Bursa is among the 24 provinces with active fault lines running through them, Tüysüz stated the following:

"An active fault refers to faults that have produced earthquakes of magnitude 6 or greater in the past and have the potential to do so in the future. Bursa is one of our provinces with earthquake potential. Therefore, while this tremor is not necessarily a precursor to a larger earthquake, it serves as a warning."

"IN THE PAST, A MAGNITUDE OF 7..."

Reminding that Bursa has been shaken by major earthquakes throughout history, Tüysüz provided the following information:

"Bursa is a region that has experienced two significant earthquakes near magnitude 7 in the past. These earthquakes, combined with fires, caused serious damage. The fault where today's earthquake occurred is far from the northern branch of the North Anatolian Fault Line, where we are expecting the Marmara Earthquake."

Tüysüz added the following to his statements:

"It should serve as a warning to Bursa in this sense; it is one of our provinces with a fault line running through it. The result of all these studies comes down to taking precautions."
