Ali Yerlikaya announces the number of Syrians who have returned to their country! How many registered Syrians are there in Turkey?

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the agenda on Anadolu Agency's Editor's Desk program.

Stating that the number of foreigners with legal residency rights in Turkey is 4 million 164 thousand 472, Yerlikaya noted that 2 million 920 thousand 119 of these are Syrians under temporary protection.

MOST SYRIANS ARE IN ISTANBUL

Yerlikaya also disclosed the distribution of Syrians under temporary protection by province. Accordingly, Istanbul is the city with the highest number of Syrians, with 506 thousand 86 people. It was observed that Kilis is the city with the highest proportion of Syrians relative to its population, at 29.04 percent.

RETURN FIGURES TO SYRIA

Announcing the return figures for Syrians, Yerlikaya reported that 763 thousand 443 Syrians have returned voluntarily since 2017.

Yerlikaya said that following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, the number of Syrians who have returned in the last 15 days has exceeded 25 thousand.

According to the data announced by Yerlikaya, 23 thousand 440 people returned to Syria between December 9 and December 23. Yerlikaya stated that the number of returns in the 2-week period before Assad was overthrown was 3 thousand 433.
