Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel continues the 'Defending the National Will' rallies he initiated for the release of the party's imprisoned presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and for early elections.

The CHP's stop last night was the Bayrampaşa district of Istanbul. Speaking at the rally, Özgür Özel addressed the investigation launched against him. Pointing to August 14, the anniversary of the AKP's founding, Özel called out to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.

"Minister of Justice! You have opened an investigation against me because I got angry while giving a speech and said 'lan' (a colloquial term). Minister of Justice, I am announcing it for tomorrow. Wait for 12:00 tomorrow. We will give the best gift on the anniversary of the AK Party's founding. I am inviting all members of the press. You are stealing mayors from us, right? We will see what happens tomorrow at 12:00 noon!"

Cem Küçük, one of the columnists for Türkiye Gazetesi, known for its proximity to the government, put forward a claim regarding the speech Özel will make.

Claiming that Özel's statements will be about Murat Kapki, who benefited from effective remorse in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation, Küçük used the following expressions regarding the issue in a post on his social media account:

"The information I have: The thing that CHP leader Özgür Özel will announce at 12:00 is a signed letter written to Özgür Özel by Kapki, whom they call a liar and who has confessed four times, in which he mentions certain lawyers."
