The future of the high-level leaders of the terrorist organization PKK, which announced its decision to dissolve on May 12, remains uncertain. The individuals, who are on Europe's terrorist list, are also at risk due to their international criminal records.

In 2011, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury declared Murat Karayılan, Cemil Bayık, Duran Kalkan, Ali Rıza Altun, and Zübeyir Aydar as "Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers."
