Bahçeli addresses families of martyrs and veterans
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the architect of the second opening process dubbed a 'Turkey without terrorism,' argued that families of martyrs and veterans should not be concerned, stating, 'We will not make them bow their heads. We are not in negotiations. We are completely closed to a give-and-take process. We will not weaken the founding philosophy of the Republic.'
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli continues to deliver messages regarding the second opening process of which he is the architect.
Making statements to the Türkgün newspaper, which is close to his party, Bahçeli emphasized that there is no bargaining in the process and stated that families of martyrs and veterans should not be concerned.
Bahçeli said, "We will not let them bow their heads. We are not in negotiations. We are completely closed to a give-and-take process. As the People's Alliance, we will not be involved in any wrongdoing that would weaken Turkey's sovereignty rights or the founding and establishment philosophy of the Republic."
Stating that those who have not been involved in crime should return to Turkey, Bahçeli said, "Whoever has been deceived and misled for various motives and reasons, but has not been involved in a crime or participated in an armed action, should come and embrace their family. The Republic of Turkey is compassionate. We are Turkey all together; we are all the Turkish nation."
Noting that the call made on February 27 by Abdullah Öcalan, the ringleader of the terrorist organization PKK, covers other separatist terrorist organizations in addition to the PKK, Bahçeli said, "At least this is how we understand it, and our interpretation is in this direction. The SDG/YPG must strictly comply with the agreement signed with the Damascus administration on March 10."
Stating that "Turkey is on the eve of a blessed birth," Bahçeli said, "There may be labor pains for this birth, there may be misunderstandings, sometimes nerves may be frayed, and even contacts may weaken and distances may grow; but our meeting in the love of Turkey with patience, perseverance, and composure, and our determination to walk toward a common and bright future is sufficient to overcome every question and problem."
When asked, "How would you summarize a 'Terror-Free Turkey' in short?", Bahçeli gave the following response:
"A terror-free Turkey is a Turkey without hesitation. A terror-free Turkey is a strong and secure Turkey. A terror-free Turkey is the harbinger of a contemporary and prosperous Turkey. We will solve the terror problem; we will cut off and cast away the vein of separatism. With political, economic, and legal reforms, we will hopefully build social harmony and justice in the fullest sense.
Our martyrs' families should not worry. Our veterans should not be afraid. We will not let them bow their heads. We are not in negotiations. We are completely closed to a give-and-take process.
As the People's Alliance, we will not, cannot, and will not be involved in any wrongdoing that would weaken Turkey's sovereignty rights or the founding and establishment philosophy of the Republic.
Our purpose is to ensure our national unity and brotherhood, as well as the fortification and crowning of our internal front. We do not take isolated and corrupt rhetoric seriously. We also condemn those who pose as nationalists while exploiting the goal of a terror-free Turkey to non-existence."
