Bahçeli's call to the judiciary regarding the IMM had sparked much debate... Striking assessment of Bahçeli from Fatih Altaylı: 'Possibility of internal conflict...'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who has been detained at Silivri Prison for 53 days, evaluated MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statements regarding the acceleration of the IMM cases. Altaylı emphasized that Bahçeli has made the same call four times in the last three months, but that new operations against IMM employees were subsequently carried out.

Regarding Bahçeli, Altaylı stated, "I have always seen him as a strong political figure, but there is a will here that exceeds his power."

Journalist Fatih Altaylı claimed that the purpose of Bahçeli's request to accelerate the IMM cases is not so much about the mayors or the situation of Ekrem İmamoğlu, but rather to prevent the agenda of these cases from overshadowing the PKK's dissolution process and the cooperation between parties regarding an amnesty.

Altaylı said the following:

"Devlet Bahçeli and, in a sense, his spokesperson Feti Yıldız are constantly bringing the IMM trials to the agenda. Ultimately, less than 24 hours after Bahçeli's words, new operations are being carried out against IMM employees. It is clear that there is a will that exceeds Bahçeli's power."

According to Altaylı, Bahçeli is acting against the possibility of an internal conflict in Turkey. It was suggested that the MHP leader, in light of information coming from security units, wants to own this opening and prevent the process from being overshadowed.

Stating that no decline has been observed in MHP's votes, Altaylı noted that CHP voters also continue to trust the party leadership. According to his claim, because indictments cannot be prepared urgently despite Bahçeli's demands, operations are increasing and the evidence-gathering process is being accelerated.
