The toll of the Bilecik fire has been announced! Dozens of structures destroyed, damage assessment efforts continue...

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum reported that in the forest fires that occurred in Bilecik, 47 units, including 23 houses, were destroyed across 3 villages, and 41 houses along with 25 units such as barns and warehouses sustained heavy damage.

In a statement on his social media account, Minister Kurum noted that they have been monitoring the forest fires that occurred in the Gölpazarı and Osmaneli districts of Bilecik from the very first minute.

Stating that they have completed the damage assessment efforts through the teams of the General Directorate of Construction Affairs, Kurum noted the following:

"We examined a total of 150 independent sections within 128 structures across 3 villages in 2 districts. We determined that a total of 47 independent units, including 23 houses and one mosque, were destroyed, and 41 houses as well as 25 independent units such as barns and warehouses sustained heavy damage. Get well soon to all our citizens. We will heal the wounds quickly. Rest assured, our state is by your side."

Speaking in the morning hours, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı had announced that the fire in the region was largely under control, but there are still areas burning.

The Bilecik Governorship also issued a statement saying, 'The forest fire in the Gölpazarı district has been largely brought under control.'
