Cevdet Yılmaz confirms: The Diyanet complex in the US has it all! Swimming pool, Turkish bath, villa, restaurant…

The luxury and extravagant spending of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), which surpasses many ministries with its budget, is also jaw-dropping.

Allegations that the Diyanet, under the leadership of Ali Erbaş, established a company and spent millions to build a swimming pool, Turkish bath, restaurant, and villas in the US have been confirmed.

According to a report by Sözcü, İYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez had submitted a parliamentary question stating, "The Diyanet has spent millions of dollars in the US. Its assets are worth more than 90 million dollars. Its expenses are twice its income. Its annual loss is 2.5 million dollars."

TAX-EXEMPT

Responding to the question, Vice President Yılmaz said, "The Diyanet Center of America is a complex created to strengthen the religious, moral, and spiritual values of the Muslim community in the US, and to meet the religious, social, and cultural needs of the Turkish and Muslim community. This center is a non-profit organization and is tax-exempt. The ownership of the buildings belongs to the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation," he said.

WHAT IS IN THE COMPLEX?

- Five main buildings constructed on a 15-acre plot using 16th-century classical Ottoman architecture

- An underground parking garage

- A geothermal well area

- These include a mosque, a cultural center, a guesthouse, a restaurant, and a community hall with shops.

- There is also a recreation building that houses a Turkish bath, an indoor pool, and a sports center.

- The center hosts Friday prayers, Ramadan iftars, religious holiday celebrations including Mawlid al-Nabi, and other religious events.

The swimming pool is 30 meters long and 15 meters wide. Its depth starts at 90 centimeters and goes up to 1.80 meters.

The Turkish bath has a double dome. It includes a fitness center and saunas.

At the heart of the complex is a cultural center containing a conference hall, a library, and workshops.

The guesthouse overlooks the picnic area by the ornamental pool. A basketball court and a tennis court were not forgotten in front of it.

There are 10 independent villa-style residences, each built with a different architectural style.

The complex also features a Turkish bath and a swimming pool.
