Chilling conversation during the fire in Bolu Kartalkaya! 'Bring a blanket, I'm going to throw my baby'

A hotel employee described the scene of the fire tragedy in Bolu Kartalkaya, where 66 people died and 51 were injured.

Speaking to TGRT, a hotel employee named Barış said that a person, in a desperate attempt to save his baby, wanted to wrap the infant in a blanket and throw it down.

"BRING A BLANKET, I'M GOING TO THROW MY BABY"

The hotel employee stated, "I went outside immediately. When I got out, everyone was screaming at the windows. They were saying, 'Call the fire department, bring pillows, we're going to try to get down.' There was a man there holding his baby. He was leaning out like this. He was saying, 'Bring a blanket or something, catch the baby, I'm going to throw it.' We were saying, 'Stay calm, the fire department is coming.' Thank God, they waited. The fire department arrived and rescued them."

The employee also revealed that two women jumped from the top floor. The employee said that flames erupted from behind the women as soon as they jumped. The employee named Barış stated the following:

"But there were two women in the upper section.

That part was burning, they said, 'Bring pillows or something, we're going to jump.'

"THE OLD MAN'S HAND SLIPPED FROM THE ROPE, HIS LEG BROKE"

We immediately brought ropes and pillows. We tried to do everything we could. We threw a rope up. There was an old man there. We threw the rope, he tried to climb down. His hand slipped from the rope. He fell to the ground. His leg broke. We were trying to help him. Then the ambulance arrived. They tried to help as well.

After that, the upper section started to burn. Those two women had to jump. They jumped down from the top floor. The one with the round window.

They jumped from the very top right in front of our eyes. As soon as they jumped, fire started to erupt from there. Then the fire department arrived. We had to get off the roof, too. The fire department started to intervene. We pulled back. There was nothing else to do but watch..."
