Concert fear under Çerçioğlu: Pressure on municipal staff for 'mandatory concert attendance'

It has been alleged that Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu wanted to force municipal staff to attend a Hakan Altun concert to be held this evening. According to the allegations, it was stated that employees who did not attend the concert would be "blacklisted" and face the "threat of dismissal."

It was claimed that in correspondence within messaging groups, staff were given instructions to attend, and that employees working not only in the center but also in surrounding districts would be brought to the concert by bus.

SIMILAR ALLEGATIONS HAD BEEN RAISED IN THE PAST

Previously, it had been alleged that some employees working at the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality were pressured to "resign from the CHP and join the AK Party," and that those who did not comply were threatened with dismissal.

SHARP REACTION FROM YOUTH BRANCHES

CHP Aydın Provincial Youth Branch President Ufuk Gündoğdu reacted sharply to the allegations in question. Stating in his statement that it is unacceptable for municipal employees to be threatened and taken to a concert, Gündoğdu used the following expressions:

"It is unacceptable for municipal staff to be forced to attend political shows and silenced with threats of dismissal. The dignity of public workers is more valuable than empty seats in a concert area."

"The office of the mayor exists to serve the public. It does not suit anyone to turn employees into tools for their own political future. As the youth, we will not remain silent against these pressures; we will stand by the employees."

"Those who are threatened for a concert today will be wanted to be silenced with the same methods for another political agenda tomorrow. The workers of Aydın are not alone."

"We will continue our struggle against every mindset that uses public power for personal gain."
