Critical development regarding footage in the Narin Güran murder case file: Sent to the National Criminal Bureau
In the trial where 4 detained suspects are being tried with a request for aggravated life imprisonment for the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, the "footage of the family members' meeting" will be examined by the National Criminal Bureau to prepare an expert report.
Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in Tavşantepe Neighborhood of the central Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found in Eğertutmaz Creek on September 8, is being tried for her murder, with her detained mother Yüksel, brother Enes, uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar facing charges of "intentional killing of a child in complicity" and a request for aggravated life imprisonment.
FOOTAGE TO BE EXAMINED BY THE COURT PANEL
The footage added to the case file regarding a family meeting held one day before September 8, when Narin Güran's lifeless body was found, was examined by the panel of the 8th High Criminal Court where the suspects are being tried.
The court sent the footage, which contains conversations in both Turkish and Kurdish, to the National Criminal Bureau to be transcribed by expert witnesses.
The following was recorded in the court's decision document:
"In the evaluation made regarding the video footage obtained in our court's file with the case number 2024/396, it was reported that Kurdish is spoken in the video, the audio is very low, and in meetings with Kurdish language experts in Diyarbakır, it was stated that special audio equipment is required to translate it into Turkish, and that it is not possible to translate it into Turkish in its current state due to the low audio level. Upon this, the National Criminal Bureau, which is an expert in its field, was consulted. Since it was stated that the conversations could be translated into Turkish using audio equipment and the hearing date is near, the video footage was sent to the National Criminal Bureau."
The footage recorded regarding the meeting held with the participation of some family members in the garden of uncle Erhan Güran's house in Tavşantepe Neighborhood one day before September 8, when Narin Güran's lifeless body was found, had reached the Diyarbakır Bar Association, and the "footage of the family members' meeting" recorded by a security camera between 19:38 and 19:41 was submitted by the Bar Association to the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court.
The footage, which was watched by the court panel, had been added to the case file.
The court had previously decided to send the footage, which contains conversations in Turkish and Kurdish, to the Van Gendarmerie Command Criminal Branch Directorate to be transcribed by expert witnesses.
